The current research paper of AEIP focuses on compulsory membership in pension schemes. It includes an extensive analysis of the relevant jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice as well as of the regulatory and institutional framework in a few EU Member States. The goal of the paper is to give a comprehensive overview of the issue, by laying-out in a structured manner the legal arguments which examine compulsory membership in relation to EU competition law and freedom of services. In accordance with the rotating system of AEIP’s Presidency, during the AEIP Board meeting of 26th June, Mr Philip Neyt, PensioPlus has been officially appointed as the new President of AEIP for the period July 2019- June 2021. We would like to thank Mr. Michel Dieu, CTIP for his excellent work during the former period as outgoing President of AEIP and give a warm welcome to Mr. Neyt.
