Type of event: Roundtable
Date: 27th February 2025
Venue: Grand Hotel Continental Bucharest – Bucharest, Romania
Last 27th February 2025, The European Association of Paritarian Institutions (AEIP) was pleased to co-host, together with Casa Socială a Constructorilor (CASOC), a roundtable in Bucharest. The event has been the occasion to share and discuss good practices in continuing vocational training (CVT) and other services provided by paritarian organisations in the construction sector. Participants to the event were Romanian, Bulgarian and Moldavian social partners of the construction sector, sectoral paritarian funds such as CNCE and FORMEDIL (Italy), FLC (Spain), Constructiv (Belgium) as well as European sectoral social partners, FIEC and EFBWW.
The meeting aimed to display the added value of the paritarian model in providing vocational education and training (VET) and to highlight how these practices could be integrated into CASOC’s mandate to enhance support for workers and companies in the Romanian construction sector.
AEIP’s Executive Director, Simone Miotto, and CASOC’s General Manager, Cristian Ștefănescu, opened the event and launched the discussion alongside Cătălin Gheran, member of the Cabinet of the European Commission’s Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Quality Skills and Jobs, Roxana Mînzatu. His contribute especially highlighted the European Commission strategies in the sector as well as an anticipation of the main feature of the new European Union of Skills.
Key topics included tackling labour shortages through tailored training programmes, supporting the green and digital transition with upskilling initiatives, and enhancing the sector’s appeal to young people and career changers by improving working conditions and promoting lifelong learning. The event served as a platform for participants to exchange national best practices on these important topics.
A warm thank you to CASOC for their outstanding organisation and hospitality, and to all participants for their valuable contributions. AEIP remains committed and eager to continue engaging in these activities, exchanging best practices, and promoting the paritarian model.
